ODB in the Mail on Sunday |
Mail on Sunday In an article in the You magazine on Female Private Investigators, The Mail on Sunday 16 March 2008 they said: Stella's success, she says, is all down to her ability to blend in. "I'm middle aged, middle class, nicely spoken and I don't look threatening - in other words, not at all what people expect of a private eye".
She's 53, slim and blond and very 'golf club'. It was meeting her now husband, also an investigator, four years ago that turned her on to detective work. 'I was fascinated by what he did. It's a combination of a crossword and a jigsaw.' Based in Oxfordshire, the couple are now business partners and cover everything from serving legal papers and debt recovery to tracing people, such as those who are beneficiaries of a will. 'I do spend a lot of time knocking on doors or sitting in cars, and sometimes I'll disguise myself with a wig or sunglasses. What is interesting is that people just don't expect a female investigator, it disarms them and they tell me exactly what I need to know. It's not glamorous - we're people's last resort.'v |
