Recap of the Year 2023/2024 (2024)

Our calendar was packed with social and corporate events, intensive training and case solving sessions, as well as consulting projects, all contributing to a year of remarkable growth and achievement. We had a total of 45 events throughout the year: 6 social events, 8 corporate events, 15 training sessions, and 16 case solving sessions. Besides, selected RCC members took part in five different consulting projects of a three-month duration.

Our social events were instrumental in building a strong sense of community. The year began with the RCC Kick Off in October, a vibrant event that welcomed new members and set a positive tone for the months ahead. December brought festive cheer with our Merry Mingling event, a delightful evening filled with Christmas spirit and a lively pub quiz, creating unforgettable memories. In February, the Bowling Tournament at Dok 99 saw members demonstrating their competitive spirit and teamwork, with the winning team celebrating their well-deserved victory. April’s Mooie Boules event provided a perfect blend of relaxation and friendly competition. We had the elegant Erasmus Gala for the first time in May, which was a spectacular evening of celebration and networking. The social calendar culminated in June with the BBQ at Kralingse Bos. It was a wonderful day of sun, food, and drinks where members gathered to celebrate the end of their journey.

Our corporate events offered valuable industry exposure and networking opportunities. October’s RCC Alumni Talk featured insights from RCC alumni at top firms like BCG, McKinsey, EY, and Strategy&, offering members a glimpse into successful consulting careers. November’s Case Study and Dinner with Acondas explored strategy implementation, followed by a delightful dinner, fostering both learning and networking. The Young Advisory Group Workshop in November emphasized the importance of teamwork and creativity in consulting. SSK Strategy Consulting Excellence hosted a workshop focusing on crafting strong MBB applications, providing members with strategic tips for their careers. We had a fantastic workshop in January with ZEB, where we delved into real-life financial cases and compared our solutions to theirs, followed by an engaging networking session. February’s events included a Case Workshop and Drinks with DHL Consulting, which combined case-solving exercises with networking, and an OC&C Strategy Consultants event that offered strategic insights and case-solving practice. In April, Bain & Company hosted a session on case interviews, sharing insider tips on structuring and delivering impactful solutions.

Training sessions were a cornerstone of our activities, equipping members with essential consulting skills. AGnowledge led several Case Training sessions from October through April, focusing on crucial topics like market sizing, financial analysis, and interview techniques, preparing our members for the consulting challenges ahead. Nicolas Constantinesco provided invaluable insights into case structuring and problem-solving through multiple sessions, helping members tackle complex scenarios with confidence. Sadik Cevik’s training sessions in December and January emphasized financial challenges under time pressure, enhancing analytical and problem-solving skills. The Think-cell Training in January introduced members to an efficient PowerPoint tool, crucial for their future consulting careers. Additionally, Aws Odish’s dynamic workshops in January offered quick, effective strategies for case structuring, further honing our members’ analytical abilities.

Case Solving Sessions were a significant part of our year, with sessions from November to May. These sessions covered diverse topics such as mergers and acquisitions, market expansion, and growth strategy, providing practical experience that prepared members for their upcoming case interviews. The lively interactions and discussions RCC members had during these sessions is a testament to their dedication!

Our consulting projects were a highlight of the year, offering members hands-on experience and practical insights into real-world challenges. These projects included collaborations with prominent companies such as Phlecs B.V., bol.com holding N.V., Fugro N.V., Hitachi Construction Machinery (Europe) N.V., and Kapiteinlabs. Each project provided unique learning opportunities, from tackling strategic growth issues at Phlecs B.V. to optimizing sustainable operations at bol. While working with Fugro N.V., our members delved into the complexities of geotechnical services, while the partnership with Hitachi Construction Machinery (Europe) N.V. offered a deep dive into the heavy machinery market. The Kapiteinlabs project allowed members to engage with cutting-edge research and development, applying innovative solutions to practical problems. These experiences not only enhanced our members’ consulting skills but also built strong professional networks and provided valuable industry exposure.

The board recruitment process was another key highlight. April saw prospective board members mingling and sharing their visions during offline and online Board Recruitment Drinks. By May, we successfully completed the recruitment process and welcomed our new board members for the upcoming academic year. Congratulations to the newly appointed team!

As we look back on a year filled with growth, learning, and community spirit, we extend our heartfelt gratitude to all our members, partners, and supporters. Here’s to another year of exciting events and achievements ahead!
